YIX als Kollektiv und Projekt, welches einem großteils ungenutztes Gründerzeit-Wohnhaus am Yppenplatz in Wien 1160 über einen Zeitraum von 2 Monaten eine neue Funktion als Ort für künstlerische Auseinandersetzung gegeben hat. Verschiedene KünstlerInnen wurden eingeladen, sich mit dem Ort über ihre Kunst auseinanderzusetzen. 4 Einzelausstellungen im Erdgeschoßlokal resultierten in einer Gruppenausstellung im gesamten Haus, vom Keller bis zum Dachgeschoß. Das Projekt kam durch den Eigentümer zu einem Ende, welcher profitablere Funktionen für das Haus favorisierte.
YIX was a collective and a project in a partly empty residential building at Yppenplatz, 1160 Vienna. During a period of 2 months a series of art events gave the building a new function and different artists were invited to take their stance on the space. 4 smaller exhibitions in the ground floor led into a bigger exhibition in the whole building dealing with the architecture and its social context from the basement to the roof and surrounding walls that were used as surfaces for videos projections. The project came to an end by the decision of the owner to use the building for a more profitable use.
